Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
Johnson looked like a full back last night and defended like one. Not caught ball watching and covered the central defenders as well. The attacking side can be built on the basics of defending.

Fredericks looks good going forward and plays like a wing back because that is how he played at Fulham.

Much like signing Haller to play the lone role up front we bought a wing back to play full back.

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
JOHNSON is a winger who gets back to defend

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
He hasn't got the skills to be a wingback yet.

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
as a defender JOHNSON,has developed his game as a space marker as well as a defenders positional sense.

however he is still primarily a wingback

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
Defensively Johnson was okay better positional sense than Massuaku, for sure. Currently Fredericks is the better player although Johnson should improve Fredericks won`t. Get in a new right back and a new left back. Keep Johnson and Fredericks and Cresswell as back ups. Sell Massuaku

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
Johnson looks a decent defender but is terrible with the ball. Ncuntia was better on the ball but not as good at defending. Oh and he's a cunt and can fuck off.

Team Johnson here.

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
Johnson was pretty shaky but it was a high pressured game to come into. Hopefully he plays the last two games now and pushes on next season.

He can also play LB which makes him more valuable than N’Gakia. Plus the fact he clearly has a better attitude.

Hopefully Silva will get some minutes against Villa

Ngakia who?
Was impressed with Johnson last night.
Obviously has a better attitude than Ngakia too.

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
It's all very well calling for youngsters to be introduced but it's difficult to blood youngsters when the pressure is on and there's so much at stake, as there has been for us pretty much all this season
There's always a tendancy to play experienced players when it's back to the wall time!
When the young players have been called in by circumstances forced by injuries etc, they have done us proud as Johnson did last night after a rather shaky start and as Nkagia did agaist Liverpool (It was a shame he rejected the contract he was offered)
I rate Diangana and if he comes back rather than being sold, he should be pushing for a first team place
I agree with the earlier comments that we should be drafting in our own youngsters rather than constantly signing expensive washed up old has-beens,with no sell on value, to do a job for a season or so
There's a bit of deadwood than needs unloading in the summer, but by and large we have the makings of a good team, though lacking strength in depth in some areas
We desperately need at least one quality LB and a quality RB
If we get a chance to sign Ollie Watkins from Brentford (which is looking increasingly unlikely!) I would be trying to sign him too

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
Would like to see 3 or so given a chance v Villa assuming we’re safe then.
Ex said Silva has been banging goals in in training so would especially like to see him have a half or more

blueeyed.handsomeman 10:55 Sat Jul 18
Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
there are plenty who are worthy of an opportunity,
if we sign mature players for big bucks and good salaries, and they cant hack it.
Surely our own players who have been taught at our academy, should have developed into the players that we need,we have 5 or 6 centre backs in our development squad who are all worthy of inclusion within our match day squads

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
The fact that nothing has been announced about Ngakia makes me think it IS West Brom that had him lined up and they are waiting til they know they are promoted. Which suddenly looks less likely

Johnson will be in the squad if not the team next season and Diangana will come back and get his chance to impress.
Think Cardosa & Lewis are still young so not yet ready but for the likes of Holland and Silva it’s now or never next season.
Cullen has always looked a useful Championship player to me & expect will go in the summer.
Not sure Charlton have any money even if they stay up so probably elsewhere.
Could maybe be used as part payment if we are looking at Cash at Forest or Eze at QPR.

Jannik.
I'm as mystified as you about Ngakia.
Currently it makes no sense. Where has he gone ?
Perhaps our plight looked so worrying he haa signed for some one guaranteed to be in the PL or other top European league.
From our point of view it's ridiculous, he could of cemented his place in the team We then could of had Johnson as backup or replacement. Fredericks could of been allowed to leave.
Bernardo Rosa is a fine prospect to but not sure RB is his position.
In all this we will probably have to spend £10m on another questionable RB when offering Ngakia the proper wages from the off would of nabbed him.
His agent almost certainly has had a lot of say.
Be funny if it was WBA and they don't get promoted now

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
Diangana looked pony in Slavs latest defeat in his attempt to grab defeat from the jaws of promotion. Lightweight, inconsequential performance. Against really poor oppo too. Blows hot and cold the lad. Mainly cold.

So Johnson is in for Fredericks tonight - interesting. Looking forward to seeing what he can do, especially in a pressure game like this.

Cherries OS

AFC Bournemouth can confirm academy player, Remy Coddington, has joined West Ham United on a full-time scholarship.

The 16-year-old joined the Cherries in March 2019 and has represented Bermuda at youth level. The club wishes Remy every success in his future career.

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
Good point Ornchurch, I hope Moyes changes that and stops buying old crooked players, at least he says he wants to focus on young hungry players.

South I noticed that most of the youth team interviewed are saying Lewis is the most talented individual they train with, it willl be interesting to see him come theough, hope it happens.

Yes, Vexed, you could also say they have a higher calibre of 1st team, very insightful to say its not the same situation. Does any team have the same situation?

Re: Could any of our young players break through next season?
I know that this is with hindsight but what have we achieved by bringing in the likes of Wilshere, Sanchez and Calleri since the ground move? Would we have lost anything by having a youngster learning the game in the squad?
